Professional Hair & Wig Styling — 1 Day Intensive

A practical watch-and-hands-on intensive designed to help you confidently create polished everyday, glam and event-ready hairstyles for your clients.

Watch each technique demonstrated, then put your learning into practice with hands-on guidance and professional feedback.

YOU WILL LEARN:

Module 1 — Health, Safety & Professional Practice

• Salon health, safety and hygiene

• Preparing and maintaining a safe workstation

• Cleaning and sanitising tools and equipment

• Safe use of electrical and heated styling tools

• Heat protection and preventing damage to the hair

• Client protection and safe working practices

• Identifying potential risks and when not to proceed with a service

Module 2 — Consultation & Styling Foundations

• Carrying out an effective client consultation

• Choosing a suitable hairstyle with your client

• Assessing hair type, condition and desired finish

• Preparing and sectioning hair correctly

• Choosing the correct tools and products

• Understanding heat settings for different hair types

• Creating a polished, long-lasting finish

Module 3 — Everyday Styling

Choose from: Straight or Loose Curls

• Creating a smooth, sleek straight finish

• Creating soft, loose curls with movement

• Correct sectioning for your chosen style

• Working quickly and efficiently while maintaining quality

• Professional finishing techniques

• Preserving the finished style

Module 4 — Night-Out & Glam Styling

Choose from: Straight, Loose Curls or Crimping/Waves

• Creating volume, definition and movement

• Using styling tools effectively

• Building and controlling the shape of the hairstyle

• Creating a polished, longer-lasting finish

• Refining the style for a glamorous, client-ready result

Module 5 — Event Styling

Choose from: Classic Hollywood Waves or One Updo Style

• Preparing and sectioning for event styling

• Creating the foundation for your chosen look

• Building shape, structure and balance

• Securing the hairstyle correctly

• Refining details for a polished, photo-ready finish

• Creating a secure and long-lasting result

Module 6 — Client Care & Maintenance

• Advising clients on maintaining their hairstyle

• Protecting and preserving the finished style

• Recommended maintenance and styling products

• Professional aftercare advice

• When to recommend a return appointment

Module 7 — VALUE MODULE: Content Creation

Learn how to turn your finished work into professional content that showcases your skills and helps attract clients.

• Taking professional pictures of your finished work

• Lighting, positioning and flattering angles

• Capturing before-and-after transformations

• Creating captivating short-form video content

• Presenting your work effectively for social media and advertising

What You’ll Need to Bring

As this is a practical, hands-on intensive, you will need to bring:

• Your own wig or model for practical styling

• Your preferred styling tools if you would like to practise using your own equipment

• A phone or camera for the Content Creation module

Wigs should be clean, prepared and ready to style. Models should arrive with their hair prepared as advised before the training day.

Any additional products or equipment required will be confirmed before training.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the training and practical assessment, learners will receive an ABT-accredited certificate, subject to this specific course holding ABT approval.
